Furnace Repair Vancouver: Fast, Honest Service When You Need Your Heat Back On

Big Enough To Get The Job Done, Small Enough To Care

Furnace Service, Repair & Installation

24 Hour Emergency Furnace Service

A furnace that won't start, or one that's suddenly blowing cold air, is never convenient. It tends to happen on the coldest night of the year, and all you want is someone reliable on the way.

Pioneer Plumbing & Heating has been keeping Vancouver homes warm for over 45 years. Our licensed technicians work on gas and electric furnaces from every major brand, including Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant, so you're not stuck waiting on a specialist.

Call (604) 872-4946 and we'll walk you through what to check first. If it turns out to be something only a technician can fix, we'll get someone out to you.

Two Quick Checks Before You Call

Before you pick up the phone, there are two things worth checking yourself.

First, look at your thermostat. It sounds obvious, but a setting that's been bumped down by accident is one of the most common reasons a furnace seems "dead."

Second, check your electrical panel. If the breaker for your furnace has tripped, reset it once. If it trips again, stop there. That's a sign of a real problem, and resetting it a second time won't fix it. The same goes for a pilot light that keeps going out. Relighting it once is fine. If it keeps happening, don't keep relighting it. Call us instead.

Furnace Repair for Every Major Brand

We repair and service forced-air furnaces of every kind, gas and electric, including Lennox, Carrier, Bryant, and most other major brands. The one exception is oil-fired furnaces, which we don't service.

Our technicians follow manufacturer specifications on every job, and we'll tell you plainly what's actually wrong before we start any work.

When It's Time to Replace, Not Repair

Furnaces don't last forever, and there's a point where repeated repairs cost more over time than a new system would. As a rough guide: an older furnace needing its third repair in as many years is usually a better candidate for replacement than another patch job.

If you're at that point, we'll walk you through your options, including high-efficiency models that use less gas or electricity to heat the same space, and any current rebates through Fortis and other programs. We'll also remove and dispose of your old furnace as part of the job.

Keep It Running: Annual Furnace Maintenance

A furnace that's serviced every year runs more efficiently, breaks down less often, and is safer for your family than one that isn't. Our annual maintenance visit includes:

  • Full diagnostic check
  • Blower removed, cleaned, and lubricated
  • Burners, venting, and heat exchanger cleaned
  • New filter installed
  • Ignition and blower operation tested

We recommend booking this before heating season starts, not in the middle of a cold snap.

What You Can Safely Do Yourself

There are a few maintenance steps you can handle between professional visits:

  • Turn off the power to the furnace before you touch anything.
  • Check the filter every one to three months, and replace it when it looks dirty.
  • Look at the burner flames through the viewing window. They should burn steady and blue. Yellow flames can mean dirty burners, which is a job for a technician, not a DIY fix.
  • Vacuum any visible dust around the unit.

Removing the blower, adjusting a flame sensor, or working inside the burner compartment isn't a DIY job. If you're not confident doing something on this list, that's exactly what we're here for.

Furnace Repair FAQ

How much does furnace repair cost in Vancouver?

It depends on what's actually wrong, from a simple part replacement to a full diagnostic call. See our rates page for a general sense of pricing, or call us for a quote specific to your furnace.

How do I know if I need a repair or a full replacement?

Age and repair frequency are the two biggest factors. A furnace under 10 years old with one isolated issue almost always makes sense to repair. One that's older and needs frequent service calls is usually cheaper to replace than to keep patching.

Do you work on all furnace brands?

Yes, gas and electric, including Lennox, Carrier, and Bryant. The only furnaces we don't service are oil-fired.

How often should I get my furnace serviced?

Once a year, ideally in the fall before heating season starts, rather than waiting until there's a problem.

Can I do furnace maintenance myself?

Some of it, yes. Filter changes, a visual flame check, and basic vacuuming are all safe to do yourself. Anything involving the blower, burners, or flame sensor should go to a licensed technician.
