Product Features

Residential water heaters are available in the ProLine line. With a commercially acceptable level of quality. The thermopile method creates a strong pilot that can tolerate harsh climatic conditions including down draughts. Direct-vent design eliminates the need for an external power supply or chimney, making it ideal for closet installations. There is no need for a flammable vapour sensor because the combustion chamber is sealed. The LED indication shows that the pilot is turned on and provides diagnostic and troubleshooting information. Glass lining protects tanks from corrosion better than other materials. Heavy-duty anode rod installed on the top of the tank for increased protection.

About John Wood

John Wood is a Canadian manufacturer of residential and commercial water heaters, headquartered in Fergus, Ontario. The brand offers a full range of gas, electric, and oil-fired water heaters and is a subsidiary of A.O. Smith Corporation. Widely recognized across Canada, John Wood has spent decades supplying reliable hot water solutions to homes and businesses throughout the country.

John Wood was founded in Canada over 150 years ago as a tinware and farm implements company, before eventually evolving into one of the country's leading water heater brands. The brand was manufactured under the banner of GSW Inc., which produced water heaters at its Fergus, Ontario plant under both the GSW and John Wood names.

Over the decades, John Wood built a strong reputation in the Canadian market for producing durable, high-quality water heaters suited to the demands of Canada's climate. Its product lineup expanded to cover a wide range of configurations, including atmospheric vent, power vent, direct vent, and high-efficiency models, as well as tankless options. The company's tankless lineup includes John Wood powered by Takagi condensing models, offering a Universal Energy Factor of up to 0.94.

In 2006, A.O. Smith completed what was then the largest acquisition in its company history, purchasing GSW Inc. along with American Water Heater Company. The addition of the GSW and John Wood brands helped make A.O. Smith the leader in the North American water heater industry. Despite the change in ownership, John Wood continued to operate out of its Fergus, Ontario facility and retained its identity as a distinctly Canadian brand.

Today, John Wood remains one of the most recognized water heater brands in Canada, with a product lineup spanning gas, electric, high-efficiency, and tankless water heaters for both residential and commercial applications, backed by more than 50 years of providing hot water to Canadian homes and businesses.
